Background & Education
Robin brings a unique combination of winemaking and commercial management experience to the Highweald Wine Estate. He has contributed to the success of several of the world’s most exciting wine businesses, including those specialising in award-winning English Sparkling Wine.
As Chief Operating Officer at Ridgeview Estate, a wine estate in Sussex, Robin reinvigorated the commercial and production focus of the business. As Wine Director at Nakedwine.com, he drove the establishment of the USA operation and winery. At Laithwaite’s, he revolutionised range and purchasing, skills he now applies to enhance the customer experience at Highweald Wine Estate.
Robin’s qualifications include BSc. (Hons) Management Science, PG. Diploma Oenology & Viticulture, and Wine & Spirits Diploma (WSET). He is currently concluding his Master of Wine (MW) Dissertation on English Sparkling Wine, with a focus on the unique terroir of Sussex vineyards.

Robin believes that having oversight of both the commercial and production aspects of Highweald’s operations will enable them to focus on doing the tried and trusted things well: creating great wine with a sense of place. He is committed to representing the unique qualities of Highweald’s terroir, nestled in the beautiful Sussex countryside, with wine crafted in our state-of-the-art winery.
Just like every member of the Highweald Wine Estate team, Robin passionately believes that English Sparkling Wine can be the best Traditional Method wine in the world. This conviction drives the estate’s commitment to producing exceptional English Sparkling Wine, primarily using classic varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Speaking about Highweald’s longer-term ambitions, Robin Langton said: “The goal is to be a top-five producer by quality and volume. Our aim is eventually to have 250ha under vine while striving for the highest quality in the country. We’re also dedicated to environmental sustainability, working closely with WineGB and adhering to the standards set by Sustainable Wines of Great Britain.”
