Grown from carefully selected Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris vines on Highweald’s Sussex estate, Hickstead Rosé 2023 beautifully captures the essence of an English summer in still wine form. Hand-harvested fruit from sun-kissed slopes yields enticing aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and a whisper of summer herbs, all lifted by a fresh, floral edge.

On the palate, it’s crisp, dry and finely balanced - delightfully approachable yet layered with gentle red fruit character and a bright, refreshing finish. Bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve purity of expression, this still rosé reflects Highweald’s commitment to terroir-driven winemaking, offering elegance, vibrancy and a subtly savoury depth that makes it an ideal companion for seasonal fare or simple, sun-soaked moments.

Provenance & Craftmanship

Highweald wines begin in our exceptional Sussex vineyards, where cool-climate conditions and ancient soils shape the purity and precision of our fruit. Every vine is hand-tended, and every grape is harvested at peak ripeness to capture the character of our land.

In the winery, traditional methods meet meticulous craft. Small-batch fermentations, careful blending, and patient ageing allow each wine to develop balance, elegance, and depth. From vine to bottle, our focus is simple: uncompromising quality and an authentic expression of Highweald terroir.

Committed to our sustainable vision, we are active members of Sustainable Wines of Britain.

Aroma

Berries • Citrus • Floral

Whole-bunch pressing preserves delicate aromatics, giving a clean profile of soft berry fruit and citrus lift. The addition of Pinot Noir Précose introduces gentle strawberry notes, while cool fermentation keeps the white-flower character bright and refined.

Palate

Supple • Fruity • Mineral

Lees ageing in stainless steel builds a supple, rounded texture that supports flavours of red berries, peach, and apricot. The natural acidity of the 2023 vintage brings clarity, while the Précose component adds vivid fruit. A subtle white-spice and mineral line gives structure and freshness.

Finish

Crisp • Light • Refreshing

The combination of cool fermentation, low alcohol, and stainless steel ageing results in a crisp, refreshing finish. The wine’s mineral edge and bright citrus keep it clean and lifted, leaving a light, summer-fresh impression.

“For Hickstead Rosé, we wanted elegance above all - pale colour, vibrant fruit, and a mineral line that makes it wonderfully drinkable. The Précose addition brings real charm and aroma, while the lees work adds just enough texture for balance.”
